How It Works: Geo Chiller
TM
Every time you use hot water, cold water (50f degrees) ground water, runs thru the heat exchanger. The flow switch and PLC activates triggers Solenoid valve B to open, and the water passes thru valve A, C, also opens for returned water. The Pelton wheel around 4 GPM (average Flow), powering the fan. The water coming out of the Pelton wheel, goes in a pressurized well tank and is pumped, back into the system. Through the one-way valve, no water is wasted. The pump, and solenoids valve uses a small amount energy, compared to the total, recovered energy, around 1.5 Tons of Energy. The main power for the Pelton wheel still comes from city water pressure (fan 600 cfm). We still recover several BTUs from the cooling power of the groundwater, or city water through the heat exchanger and the ambient heat in the kitchen 95F degrees to 100 degrees, is used to preheat the hot water, which is around 8.5 degrees increase. The air coming out of the heat exchanger is 18f degrees cooler than the ambient kitchen air.

Full-Service Restaurant Kitchen Cooling / Energy Saver
FSR Hot Water Usage
The FSR's daily hot water consumption ranged from a low of 1400 gallons to a high of 3700 gallons, with an average usage of 2100 gallons per day. The System Pre- Heats the cold-water (50 F degrees inlet) to the hot water tank approx.to 59 F degrees. The 95F ambient air, the cool air comes out of the heat exchange around 72F degrees. The Geo-Chiller provides cooling, an Energy Saver. The system can recover 1.5 Tons (5.275 kwh) of energy, for cooling and pre-heating the hot water. On average, a restaurant can spend anywhere from $2,000 to $6,000 per month on energy costs. The system would pay for itself, within two years est.
Hot Kitchens Throughout US
Even in cooler climates, temperatures in commercial kitchen spaces can easily top 100 degrees. Small, contained spaces combined with open flames make for an uncomfortable and sometimes unhealthy work environment. High temperatures can be a significant danger to commercial kitchen workers and bringing these temperatures down to healthy levels presents a difficult challenge. Despite the challenge, it's possible to do. Here are the best ways to control the temperature in your commercial kitchen space.
US Groundwater Temperature
Incoming water temperature is an important part of the equation used to calculate required heater sizing (/sizing-tankless-water-heaters).
In many applications, you can just use the default groundwater temperature for that value.
